NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Sonora City will conduct a public hearing at 5:00 PM, or shortly thereafter, on the 19th day of September 2022, in the Sonora City Council Chambers, 94 North Washington Street, Sonora, CA for the purpose of considering the following:
- Code Amendment. Title 17 Text Amendment – Accessory Dwelling Units Text amendment to Title 17, Zoning, of the Sonora Municipal Code, amending chapter 17.55, Second Dwelling Units on Residential Parcels, by repealing it in its entirety and replacing it with a new Chapter 17.55, Accessory Dwelling Units.
This meeting will be held in accordance with Government Code Section 52953(E) and the City of Sonora City Council Resolution No. 05-16-2022-A. This meeting is physically open to the public or members of the public may participate in the meeting via video conferencing. The posted meeting agenda will include the phone number and passcode needed to participate in the teleconference. Pursuant to State law, challenges in court to actions on the above proposal may be limited to issues raised during public hearings or meetings conducted on the matter, or in correspondence submitted prior to the start of the meeting.
At its meeting of August 8, 2022, the City of Sonora Planning Commission held a public hearing on said project. Subsequent to the hearing the Commission voted to recommend approval by the City Council. The above text amendment is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15282(h) and Public Resource Code Section 21080.17 which exempts the adoption of an ordinance regarding second units.
The project staff report will be available for review at the City of Sonora Community Development Department, 94 North Washington Street, Sonora CA 95370, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00PM or on the City’s website at www.sonoraca.com..
