NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Sonora City will conduct a Public Hearing at 5:00 PM, or shortly thereafter, on the 20th day of January 2026, in the Sonora City Council Chambers, 94 North Washington Street, Sonora, CA to consider the following:
CITY OF SONORA PROPOSED SOLID WASTE RATE INCREASE
The proposed rates are associated with a new solid waste franchise agreement with California Waste Recovery Systems (Cal-Waste) and would take effect during the billing period that begins January 1, 2026. The new solid waste rates shall become effective upon adoption by the City Council.
All interested persons may appear and be heard. Property owners and solid waste customers may submit written protests opposing the proposed rates. Protests must identify the affected parcel, include the name and original signature of the owner or customer, and be received prior to the close of the hearing. Electronic protests will not be accepted. One protest per parcel will be counted.

This meeting will be held in accordance with Government Code Section 52953(E). This meeting is physically open to the public or via public access audio and video live streaming, which is available for audio and visual only, and can be accessed via our website at www.sonoraca.com.
The proposed solid waste rate increases will be available for review at the City of Sonora Administration Department, 94 North Washington Street, Sonora CA 95370, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM or on the City’s website at www.sonoraca.com.
